Get Dirty.
God made dirt, so dirt don’t hurt. That’s right, put a set of threads that that you don’t mind getting dirty because almost every YOOP activity involves getting a little dirty.
Eat a Pasty.
A pasty is a major food group in the Upper Peninsula. These delicious meals are a YOOPER delicacy and date back to the Copper Country hay days, when miners would take these into the mines for a hot meal.
Take A Sauna.
Pronounced "SOW-nuh" — this Finnish tradition runs strong here in the Upper Peninsula. Make friends with a local and I'm sure you'll have the opportunity to throw some water on the hot rocks and relax in their sauna!
Find Some Yooper Stones
Grab your blacklight flashlight and find some of the glowing yooper rocks that can be found along the shores of Lake Superior.
Go Chasing Waterfalls.
From Bond to Wyandotte Falls, there's no limit to the amount of time you can spend chasing waterfalls in the Upper Peninsula. Find a map at a local gift shop and start exploring!
Dunk in Superior.
The fresh waters of Gitchi-Gami are only a short dirt trail away. Sure, mother Superior may be a little chilly, but the freezing fresh water will make you feel rejuvenated and the views are breath-taking.
